The ‘Bedouins’ began life in 2008 when a number of friends and regulars at THE FOLEY ARMS in Claygate, Surrey were inspired by several social trips to France where they started to play Petanque.

Initially the group did not have a ‘home’ terrain on which to play and duly became a “wandering” side forced to play only away games when and where they could pick up matches. . . Thus, the Bedouins were born.

Eventually, the original Bedouins decided they wanted to play more competitively and joined the Oxshott Petanque Club as a stand alone side.  It was there that the Bedouins began play in the North Downs League where we continue to play today.

In 2013, an opportunity arose for the Bedouins to construct their own terrain and the club relocated to our current site at Avorians Cricket Club in Cobham, Surrey.  The terrain was designed and built by the club members themselves, manning shovels, diggers, rollers and whacker plates and ably marshalled by the then Captain, Tim McLaughlin.  It was a lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun, and a great sense of achievement!

In 2019 members added a further extension to our terrain, almost doubling its size.
